Nikola Tesla (July 10, 1856 - January 7, 1943) was an inventor, pioneering many modern inventions before anyone else. He is more commonly known as the inventor of Alternating Current (AC). He is said to have developed ways to create energy "from the Aether", and to transmit energy wirelessly through the atmosphere, but these plans were scrapped because J.P. Morgan refused to fund them.
